Gorham Savings Adds Risk Officer To C-Suite

Gorham Savings Bank, a leading southern Maine financial services institution, has promoted Julie Brooks to chief risk officer (CRO) effective immediately. Brooks is responsible for the bank’s enterprise risk management program, which consists of compliance, information security, bank secrecy, fraud and audit.

With more than 30 years of banking experience, Brooks joined Gorham Savings Bank in 2011 as compliance officer and has most recently been serving as the bank’s senior vice president, senior risk officer.

“Julie approaches her job with a tireless dedication,” said Steve deCastro, president and CEO. “Banking is a complex industry with many regulations and requirements––Julie works hard to ensure customers’ needs are met while protecting the bank with her strong risk management skills.”

Brooks is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) who earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Maine. She volunteers with Junior Achievement of Maine, teaching financial literacy to greater Portland youth.
