GSB Helps “Shave” A Little off the Top

Preble Street is a hub of programs for Greater Portland’s most vulnerable and underserved residents. Gorham Savings Bank helped ‘raze’ awareness of one of the least donated and most needed items this holiday season by encouraging employees to bring shaving supplies to the company’s annual Holiday Party.

Gorham Savings Bank employees filled over four bags with their contributions of men’s and women’s disposable razors for those in need. Ray Hepler, Resource Development Assistant at Preble Street stated, “Our focus is the people we serve. We always strive to boost confidence and preserve dignity, especially during this time of year. Providing our visitors with disposable razors is one of the simplest ways to do that.”

Gorham Savings Bank also purchased over 100 pairs of warm winter gloves for Preble Street — since many of the outerwear donations they receive are not durable enough to weather Maine’s long, harsh winters.

“We hope our contributions of these most needed items will truly make a difference,” noted Chris Emmons, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gorham Savings Bank, “Giving back to the community is something we are passionate about during the holidays and all yearlong.”
