GSB Employees Support Bank’s Wellness Initiative

We had another successful growing season at the Bank’s Operations Center this past summer. For the 2nd year, Operation Center employees planted a vegetable garden behind the building on Gray Road in Gorham.

The garden is one of the ways employees are helping to support the Bank’s wellness initiative and it’s a great way to demonstrate how easy and fun it is to grow vegetables.

Building on the success of last year, and with a generous donation from Skillins Greenhouses, the garden was expanded. Last year we grew Peas, Cucumbers, String Beans, Tomatoes and Marigolds.

The expansion has allowed for the addition of Strawberries, Squash and a Giant Pumpkin. If the squash continues to grow well, they will be added to this year’s Thanksgiving Baskets donated to area families.

All of the produce harvested from the garden is placed in the Operation Center kitchen for everyone to enjoy.
